Benedict Arnold was a general during the Revolutionary war. He was first fighting for the Americans. then he joined the British. He first obtianed control at West Point. He was offered a promotion by the Continental Congress. After the plan was exposed, in September 1780, he was commissioned to the British Army as a Brigadier General. The West Point Plan was exposed when the Americans captured John Andre carrying papers that revealed the plot.
